The Office of Public Guardian aims to process powers of attorney (PoA) within 30 working days of receiving the document. When they receive your request, they will consider the reason(s) stated. If the request is granted the PoA will be processed within 5 working days. An acknowledgement will be issued advising if the request has been refused. Weekly updates are available of their current processing times on their News page.

VOCAL offers carers free monthly appointments with an independent advisor, to support them to write and register a Power of Attorney document.

This free service should replace the need to visit a solicitor.
