Fundraising makes a huge impact to our charity and can help us reach more unpaid carers who may not recognise themselves as a carer yet.

Graeme, who works for VOCAL in our Edinburgh Carers’ Hub, has taken on a number of challenges including the Edinburgh men’s 10k last year and has signed up to do the Glasgow half marathon in February and even a marathon in Copenhagen in May!

This year, Graeme is raising money for our carer cottage Hawthorn Brae. He said:

“Being part of the Grants team at VOCAL, I see the difference that a break from caring gives carers and the impact we can make as a charity.

“I felt invigorated knowing I was capable of achieving these challenges and fundraising at the same time. I am currently running three times a week, including after work on Mondays with one of my colleagues Tammy who has previously run marathons for VOCAL. She has been an inspiration to know it can be done and spurs me on to train and better myself.”

Graeme is also raising funds and awareness of the 10000 Donors campaign as two years ago he donated bone marrow. You can read more about the campaign on their website.
