VOCAL recognises many carers experience financial pressures due to caring. Some may have reduced their hours at work, or even had to stop working altogether. Others may be struggling to make ends because of increasing fuel costs or find themselves in fuel debt. In addition, caring for others and financial worries can affect carer wellbeing.
To support carers, VOCAL has received funding to establish a Carer Recovery Fund, for carers in Edinburgh and an Assistance Fund for carers in Midlothian. Both funding programmes support carers through the delivery of grants. Funds are targeted at those in greatest need and carers will be asked to describe what difference the funding would make to their life.
