VOCAL (Voice of Carers Across Lothian) is proud to have achieved the Investing in Volunteers (IiV) accreditation, the national benchmark for excellence in volunteer management.
The award recognises VOCAL’s commitment to supporting the vital role volunteers play in improving the lives of unpaid carers across Edinburgh and Midlothian. Over the past year, VOCAL’s team of more than 40 volunteers have contributed more than 2,000 hours of support.
The achievement was recently marked with a celebration event for VOCAL’s volunteering team.
Rosemary McLoughlin, Chief Executive Officer at VOCAL, said:
“This award is a testament to the incredible dedication of our volunteers, and our staff who support them. Many of our volunteers are unpaid carers themselves, and every day we see the value that volunteers bring, both in our centres and in the community.”
Szilvia Zarda, Volunteer Coordinator at VOCAL, added:
“Our volunteers give their time, skills, and expertise to help carers. We are so grateful for their support, and we’re proud to have created a space where they feel supported and valued.”
The Investing in Volunteers award is granted following a rigorous assessment of volunteer management standards, covering areas such as recruitment, support, recognition, and development.
VOCAL now joins a select group of organisations across the UK that have demonstrated best practice in working with volunteers.
