The future of Edinburgh care and support services

City of Edinburgh Council has produced a draft five-year strategy called Edinburgh Commissioning Strategy for Care and Support Services.

It outlines the way the Council commissions (ie. plans, buys and delivers) care and support services. Linked to the strategy are three more detailed plans for each of the main care groups (adults, children and families, and housing and homelessness). Now they want to hear your views.

The first consultation focuses on the draft Commissioning Plan for Adults which looks at support given to carers and how carers at be more involved in planning care packages. It covers the six care groups of; older people; mental health and wellbeing; learning disability; physical disability; drug and alcohol addictions; HIV/AIDS.

City of Edinburgh Council is hosting two consultation events for carers at VOCAL Carers Centre, 8 - 13 Johnston Terrace, Edinburgh, EH1 2W. The events will take place on Wednesday 16th February - one in the afternoon (2-4pm) and one in the evening (7-9pm). To book your place please contact Julie Gardner at VOCAL on 0131 622 6666 or email jgardner@vocal.org.uk.
