Lung/COPD
There are a wide range of lung conditions, to find out more details about different conditions visit British Lung Foundation website.
COPD is one of the most common respiratory diseases in the UK. It usually affects people who are over 40 years of age. The main cause of COPD is smoking. The likelihood of developing COPD increases the more you smoke and the longer you've been smoking.
The symptoms of COPD can seem similar to those of asthma. Asthma can be controlled with treatment but COPD causes permanent damage to the lungs. Treatment for COPD usually involves relieving the symptoms; for example, by using an inhaler to make breathing easier. Read more about COPD.

So if you are a parent who has a child with a lung condition, and would like someone to share hopes, anxieties and advice with, or if you care for a relative or friend and would enjoy regular contact with someone who understands, please visit British Lung Foundation PenPals page.
